Asian Society for Film and Television in association with the Embassy of Sudan in India has formed Indo-Sudan Cultural Forum with a view to strengthening the bond of friendship between the peoples of the two countries. Sudan with close to six hundred tribes which speak over four hundred languages and dialects is one of the most culturally diverse country in the world. Modern Sudanese songs are a fusion of Egyptian and European influences and the rhythms and melodies of Sudan. The creative youths of Sudan are making short and documentary films for creating social cohesion in the country. The Indo-Sudan Cultural Forum facilitates exchange of performing artists; organizes screening of Indian and Sudanese films and television program in each other’s country; and providing education and training facility in India to the budding Sudanese film and television professionals. Sandeep Marwah has been nominated as the chairman of India-Sudan Cultural Forum.
